What is an antiseptic and how does it differ from a disinfectant?

Both antiseptics and disinfectants kill germs. The main difference between the two is that disinfectants are usually used on inanimate objects (e.g. tables, floors, chairs) and antiseptics are more suitable for human skin17. For this very reason, BETADINE® Skin Cleanser is a better choice of antiseptic to wash hands and keep germs at bay1.

What are benefits of BETADINE®’s unique colour versus other skin cleansers?

The active ingredient in BETADINE®, povidone-iodine, is naturally a golden brown colour18. At times some areas of our hands or body are not properly cleaned. BETADINE®’s golden brown colour indicates the areas of our skin that we have washed. It will not stain your skin, fingernails or hair.

If you accidentally get BETADINE® on natural fibres such as cotton it can usually be easily washed off with water and soap. For man-made fibres, BETADINE® can usually be washed off with the help of a stain remover.
